Sooke Homestay
All Grade 10 students will participate in a short-term study abroad program in British Columbia that lasts for five weeks during July and August. They will experience Canadian ways of life firsthand while staying with a host family. Successful completion of this program will earn them four (4) credits for Social Studies 10.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2020 and 2021 trips to Sooke, BC were suspended.
ABOUT SOOKE
Sooke, BC is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island near the city of Victoria. Just a ferry ride away from downtown Vancouver, Sooke is a desirable place for both residents and visitors.
STAYING WITH A HOST FAMILY
Students will stay with a host family throughout their 5 week stay. During weekdays BC Program students will attend classes and activities and spend time with their host families on weekends (and after school of course).
Homestays are a great way to develop communication skills, build independence and experience a new way of life.
ACTIVITIES
During their homestay, BC Program students will participate in many planned excursions and cultural activities. This may include curling, whale watching, hiking, or mountain biking. They will be able to have experiences unlike anything they’ve had before.
